Annis Honored as a Best CPA by St. Louis Small Business Monthly

For this honor, the St. Louis Small Business Monthly (SBM) asked readers to help identify the best accountants as part of its SBM Best in Business Awards.
After being nominated, Annis was featured in the August 2021 issue of St. Louis Small Business Monthly. In the article, she provides accounting advice to small business owners.
“I encourage clients to discuss what is happening on the accounting side with me. Then we can analyze the situation and discuss what might be the best choice,” said Annis.
“When I’m involved on the front end, I can help clients avoid paying unnecessary tax while achieving their plans. To me, it’s like solving a puzzle: putting together pieces to see the whole picture,” she said.
Best Accountant Advice for Small Business Owners
As a St. Louis Best Accounant, Annis shares her advice for entrepreneurs:
- Meet with your accountant at least annually, if not more. Ask questions about what you can be doing better or different.
- Get an accounting team that is focused on forward thinking to help your future. You want someone who is asking questions and making suggestions. Otherwise, if your tax preparer just takes whatever you give them, you’re looking at the past.
- Get financial advice from your accountant before making a major decision. Not raising the issue with your accountant is the biggest mistake that I’ve seen haunt business owners. This could be selling the business, mergers and acquisitions, vehicle purchases, equipment financing, or payroll, just to name a few.
